Adopted bloodhound from rescue on 12/18/12. Male, neutered, vet estimates he's 4-5 years old now. Don't know much about history except he had hard life - scars on muzzle and some teeth are filed down, vet things likely from chewing on his forepaws due to untreated allergies before he came to us. he is doing great on Orijen Six Fish food, lots of trial and error - we used to make his food in the kitchen which we think contributed to some of his food issues (same pots and pans we were usign for our own meals). Willing to pay for his special food on auto-delivery to your home for the next year. He is very low maintenace - sleeps 80% of the day, have to clean out his ears once a week and 30 minute walk daily, and long country stroll one a week keeps him happy. Lives in the city with fenced yard currently. He was starving when we adopted him (15 lbs underweight) and is food crazy as a result. Has to be gated when family is eating. Currently surrendering him because he busted out from door and attacked a small dog that was on our porch during trick or treat, and we have small dogs on all sides of our yard and in front of our house. Perfectly find with my mom's basset hound who comes in and out of his territory without issue. We have 2 small children in the house - he did nip at the baby when he was crawling towards me while I was eating my meal at the kitchen table. We have been keeping them separated ever since (obviously) and he's been much better since we stopped making his food and used commercial dog food, idea being he thought the kitchen was his territory. Perfectly fine with my almost 5 year old for past 2 years and all adults. Very people friendly and neighborhood children love him. Obviously, we can't keep him for safety reasons and want him to go to a new home but have to be upfront about his issues. We love him - would be a great family dog for a retired couple or someone willing to work through his issues. Perfectly find with our elderly cat and all other cats he's encountered when he's with us.
