About Windchime

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Cat
  • Housetrained: Yes
Windchime is a 2-3 year old tortie. She was begging for food from the employees at a warehouse. They felt sorry for her because she was very hungry and very pregnant. As the weekend was fast approaching the son of an employee rescued Windchime from the parking lot. The day after her rescue, Windchime gave birth to 8 kittens at the home of her rescuer. A volunteer from Friends For Life Animal Haven got a call to take Mom and the 8 kittens into her foster home. The kittens weren’t 24 hours old yet. A trip to the vet was called for to get Mom’s right ear checked. She had an abscess or a hematoma on her earflap. The vet thought Windchime had a hematoma and put her on meds. She also checked Mom and the kittens’ health. All were deemed healthy considering what Windchime had been through. To be safe, the vet tested Windchime for both FeLv and FIV (both neg.). A week later Windchime’s ear had not improved. She went back to the vet. This time the vet thought that Windchime had a tumor and because of its location, it could be cancer. We had to wait until the kittens were weaned to do surgery. Her right earflap was removed at the some time she was spayed. The tumor was tested and found to be a benign fatty tumor. Windchime has recovered from her ordeal and is healthy and happy. Windchime and her 8 kittens are looking for forever homes. Call Windchime's foster person, Diane, for more info at 614-836-6079.
